1st price at the EFM32 design contest for a wireless head-jostystick for power wheelchairs

During Embedded World 2011 in Nuremberg (Germany), Christoph Budelmann won the first price of the EFM32 design contest. The contest was organized by Avnet Memec, Energy Micro and the German electronics journal Elektronik.
The head-joystick allows disabled people the intuitional and autonomous control of the wheelchair, supporting a new dimension of mobility. Moving the head aside, ahead or back drives the wheelchair in the correspondent direction. The development was done in cooperation with the German Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), which works on mobility assistance systems for power wheelchairs.
